TWICE Jihyo Shocks Fans with Unexpected Career Change — Here's What She's Up To

TWICE member Jihyo, renowned for her captivating stage presence, has revealed her desire to explore the world of acting. In a recent video uploaded on the YouTube channel ’14F’ on July 1st, Jihyo shared her thoughts during an individual exhibition titled ‘A Very Private Art Museum.’

Meeting a fan in a space adorned with her photographs, Jihyo pointed to a recent photoshoot and said:

“I wanted this photo to just show what I’m up to recently. These days, I’ve been trying out various things.”

In a candid moment, Jihyo disclosed, “I’ve been thinking about trying something challenging lately, and for the first time, I’m really thinking about trying acting.” Encouraged by a fan who expressed, “Please do it. You fit well to acting,” Jihyo responded with a mix of surprise and enthusiasm, “Really?”

Reflecting on her initial hesitations, she confessed, “Originally, I thought it was something I could never really do. But I’m having that thought again. There are things that I’m doing on stage. That’s all acting.”

Jihyo also shared a glimpse into the demands of her profession, revealing:

“Actually, I was really tired at that time. I woke up at 3 AM in the morning and I am acting like that. I always feel a great sense of joy and fun doing it.” She added, “When people tell me that my bright performance gave them such bright energy, I felt so energized that I wanted to try acting.”

As Jihyo contemplates her future in acting, her group TWICE is also gearing up for a major release. The highly anticipated 5th Japan full album, ‘DIVE,’ is set to drop on July 17th, promising more of the vibrant performances fans love.

Meanwhile, TWICE’s Jihyo faced criticism from some K-pop fans for her solo debut album “ZONE,” released on August 18, with claims that it was a “flop” compared to her bandmate Nayeon’s solo release. Critics cited poor promotions, an outdated concept, and a lack of charm as reasons for the underwhelming performance.

Despite these criticisms, ONCEs (TWICE’s fandom) defended Jihyo, highlighting her achievements such as topping iTunes charts in 22 regions, ranking No. 1 on YouTube music video worldwide trends, and achieving impressive physical sales. They emphasized her album’s recommendation by Grammy and praised her effort and talent.
