Red Velvet Joy Confesses To Drinking All Night Before Performing At Music Shows

Red Velvet member Joy revealed she used to drink alcohol all night before performing on music shows, as well as how she would combat the hangover.

On July 1, 2024, Red Velvet’s Joy, Yeri, and Seulgi appeared on Shin Dong Yeop’s drinking web show, “짠한형 신동엽.” During the show, Joy revealed she used to drink and party all night despite hanging out to go to music shows the following morning.

Korean music shows are notorious for how demanding the schedules are. Even before the sun rises, idols are often required to get up to begin preparing for their appearance on the show. Depending on how popular and how old a group is, idols might have to get on stage as early as 5 or 6 AM, which means preparations start as early as 3 AM.

With that, it is understood that most idols are likely to spend their nights asleep to ready themselves for the day. However, that was not the case for Joy. Instead, the idol embraced her youth and spent her nights out and about!

During her appearance on the show, Joy revealed that during her 20s, she would go out drinking all night and see the sunrise. To combat a possible hangover, the female idol would buy hangover cures from the convenience store. In South Korea, convenience stores sell liquid hangover cures to prevent people from experiencing headaches the morning after.

The Red Velvet member also confessed to sleeping off her hangover while her hair and make-up were done. After that, she would be ready to go and would perform on stage as if she were well-rested. Joy reminisced over the time of her life when she had the energy to do such things.
