NewJeans' "Supernatural" becomes the first Japanese song to enter the top 10 on Melon

NewJeans has made history with their latest single, “Supernatural,” which is now the first Japanese song to break into the top 10 on Melon’s Top 100 chart.

Released as part of their recent double single alongside ‘Right Now,’ ‘Supernatural’ quickly garnered attention for its catchy melody and innovative retro sound.

Some Korean netizens are questioning the claim that “Supernatural” is the first Japanese song to enter the top 10 on Melon. They point out that Big Bang’s “How Gee” ranked 6th in the Melon Top 100 chart back in 2008. However, others argue that although “How Gee” was included in Big Bang’s Japanese EP ‘For The World’ the song’s lyrics are completely in English, it doesn’t count as a Japanese song.

Korean netizens commented:

“The song is good and it has very few Japanese lyrics so it’s not a hard listen.”

“I always thought Big Bang the first?”

“I liked this song the best.”

“I wish there was a full Korean version of this song.”

“I like that it has Korean, English, and Japanese.”

“There was another Japanese song that made it to the top 10.”

“The song is really good.”

“Big Bang’s ‘HOW GEE’ ranked at 6th place though.”

“The song is very good.”

“This is my favorite song.”
