TXT Yeonjun Apologizes For Uploading Japan Trip Photos On Korea's Liberation Day

Yeonjun apologized for his Instagram post on Korea’s Liberation Day, which showed photos from his Japan trip.

On August 15, several photos were uploaded by Yeonjun on his official Instagram account, displaying his time in Japan. The content was immediately deleted subsequently after netizens criticized Yeonjun for uploading Japanese-related content on the occasion.

The holiday, which started in 1945, commemorates Korea’s liberation from Japan’s colonial rule. Idols have been long known to be scrutinized during this holiday, as many have received backlash for mentioning or consuming Japanese products, pop culture, brands, and other content.

Following the controversy, Yeonjun released a statement on Weverse, apologizing for his post. The idol expressed regret for uploading the photos from his Japan trip and apologized to everyone impacted by his actions. Read his full statement below:

I failed to respect the historical meaning and significance of Liberation Day and showed carelessness in uploading photos.

I apologize to everyone who was hurt by my wrong actions. I will reflect on our shortcomings and be more careful to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

Once again, I would like to apologize to everyone.”
