Hyolyn reveals the secret to dating culture within the 'Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC)'

Hyolyn recently shared behind-the-scenes insights about the ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC)’ while offering some pointed remarks on the event.

On August 13, a video titled “It wasn’t Hype Boy, but ‘Ma Boy’ back then! The summer QUEEN HYOLYN’s visit” was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘Neighborhood Star K.’ In the video, Hyolyn joined Jonathan as a guest and engaged in a lively discussion.

Jonathan began by mentioning the buzz around the revival of ISAC, saying, “I heard SISTAR dominated the early days of ISAC.” ISAC, a popular holiday special aired by MBC, brings idols from various agencies together to compete in athletic events.

Hyolyn reflected, “It was amazing for us too,” and revealed, “We actually discovered our athletic talents through ISAC.” She shared that SISTAR consistently secured first place in relay races, saying, “We didn’t even know we were good at it, but as rookies, we worked hard because we wanted to make a name for ourselves.”

Between 2010 and 2015, SISTAR regularly participated in ISAC, winning nine gold medals in team relays, along with numerous medals in hurdles, high jump, and other events. Their athletic prowess earned them the nickname “sports idols.” Eventually, due to heavy competition from other agencies, they held a retirement ceremony from ISAC.

Jonathan then brought up the less favorable side of ISAC, asking, “I heard fans cringe just hearing the word ‘ISAC,’” referring to rumors of behind-the-scenes romantic flings. Hyolyn responded humorously, “I only found out about that recently,” adding, “I’ve never been approached.”

SISTAR, however, participated purely in the competition. Hyolyn noted, “Our fans could see everything from the same spot, and we didn’t even carry our phones much,” expressing her surprise at the rumors. Jonathan was impressed, saying, “You really went with a single focus—just to compete.”

Jonathan also asked Hyolyn to offer some tough advice to those who attend ISAC with ulterior motives instead of focusing on the athletic competition. Hyolyn confidently replied, “Think about why you’re even there in the first place,” adding with a laugh, “You can handle those things after filming ends around 5 AM, if you have no other plans.”

On August 12, Hyolyn released her digital single ‘Wait’ on major streaming platforms. The Afrobeat track expresses her desire to break free from past restraints and move forward with newfound freedom.
