JTBC officially apologizes for releasing wrong CCTV footage & reports of BTS SUGA's DUI incident

JTBC has officially apologized for releasing the wrong CCTV footage of BTS SUGA’s DUI incident.

Previously, JTBC broke the news of SUGA’s DUI and released alleged CCTV footage of the incident on August 7, 2024 of a man cruising down a main road. Dong-A Ilbo and police investigations then revealed SUGA had been riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk, which BIGHIT MUSIC confirmed, and JTBC further confirmed the network had released CCTV footage of someone else.

On August 16, ‘JTBC Newsroom’ issued an official apology live on air through an anchor. The anchor stated, “Our newsroom reported BTS member SUGA’s DUI on August 7. In the first part of our report, we aired CCTV footage of an electric scooter passing by on a main road. It was later confirmed through police investigations that the male in the video was not SUGA. We’re sorry for causing confusion.”

In related news, police are expected to summon SUGA in for questioning soon.
