tripleS Nakyoung Opens Up About Being BIBI's Sister: 'I Don't Think...'

tripleS member Nakyoung talked about being in the entertainment industry alongside her older sister, BIBI.

On June 18, 2024, the YouTube channel “Studio Welcome” released a preview video titled “Nakuyung: It’s Not Bad Having BIBI as My Sister(?)”. For this episode, the guests included tripleS members Yoon Seoyeon, Kim Yooyeon, Kim Nakyoung, and Nien, who engaged in casual conversation with soloist Lee Chaeyeon.

In the video, MC Chaeyeon asked Kim Nakyoung, “Your sister is BIBI, isn’t she? What’s it like being celebrities together?”

After a moment of hesitation, Nakyoung replied, “I don’t think it’s bad. We support and rely on each other.”

Kim Yooyeon, then suggested, “Say, ‘It’s not bad being BIBI’s sister,'” to which Nakyoung added, “I feel like I’ve benefited a lot thanks to my sister.” This prompted Yoon Seoyeon to joke, “You were told one thing and you didn’t do it at all,” sparking laughter.

Chaeyeon then asked Nakyoung how BIBI had helped her. Nakyoung hesitated and trailed off, “My sister is… my sister has…”

As she hesitated, fellow member Seoyeon couldn’t help but tease her, saying “Sounds like she hasn’t helped you.”

Hearing Nakyoung hesitate, Chaeyeon added, “Chaeryeong isn’t like this, is she?” sparking laughter on set. Similar to Nakyoung, Chaeyeon also has a celebrity sister. Her younger sister is ITZY member Chaeryeong.

Meanwhile, tripleS member Kim Nakyoung and the recently popular BIBI, known for her song “Bam Yang Gang,” are known to be biological sisters. The sisters have showcased their close bond by filming a challenge video for tripleS’s song “Rising” together.

Before debuting with tripleS, Kim Nakyoung appeared on SBS’s “The Fan” in 2019, which featured BIBI. In 2022, when Nakyoung’s debut teaser video was released, netizens speculated she was BIBI’s sister based on several similar features shared between the two, like the mole on her right hand, her mouth shape, and more.

In other tripleS news, the girl group’s seventh sub-unit, Glow, is scheduled to debut on June 21 with a new single. The members for the sub-unit have yet to be announced.
