Korean soloist Jo Hyun Ah faced backlash and mockery following her much-anticipated comeback, as netizens criticized her new song, vocal performance, and fashion choices.

Despite the negative reception, some fans came to her defense, emphasizing the unfairness of attacking her established reputation and skills.

On July 5, Urban Zakapa member and soloist Jo Hyun Ah finally made her comeback in eight months since the release of her single, “Lovers.”

The track, “Give You” is a song that depicts the main proponent’s greed for a lover and a pure heart without lies, catching the eye with its concise yet honest lyrics.

However, when the song was released, music frowned after hearing the lyrics such as:

“I don’t know who you are or where you come from, but I really love you // I’ll give you, I’ll give you everything // I’m floating through space, I’m floating through space.”

K-netz didn’t take it seriously, making fun of it while saying whether she met the “lover” in the song through a blind date or dating app due to the questionable song lines.

While netters then said that the cheesy song could be overshadowed by Hyun Ah’s skills, her vocal tone and singing ability also come under fire.

Earlier on July 12, she raised excitement as she was expected to show a live showcase of her new song on KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank.”

Hyun Ah is popular for her deep vocal tone and emotional singing, but she received criticism after hearing her “unstable” voice, joking if she drank a lot a day before the stage. During the performance, the rhythm and her pitch didn’t match and questioned if there was a problem on the technical side or if she was the one who made a mistake.

Moreover, Hyun Ah also received a harsh gaze seeing her flaunt her dancing skills, criticizing her for “imitating” K-pop idols when she was originally a ballad singer.
