Popular YouTuber Malwang (Horse King) is on the cover of MAXIM Korea

According to MAXIM on July 24, YouTuber Malwang (Horse King), who has 1.52 million subscribers, is the cover model for the August 2024 issue of MAXIM.

In the released photos, Malwang is seen wearing his signature look, which includes a tiger-print T-shirt, tiger-print underwear, and skinny jeans, giving off a boyfriend look. He posed humorously, holding pork trotter bones or eating pork trotters. MAXIM editor Kim Han Sol, who oversaw the photoshoot, praised the images, saying, “They perfectly capture Malwang’s image, which lies somewhere between a humorous vibe and a handsome neighborhood guy.”

YouTuber Malwang started with fitness content and has since become a beloved figure known for his bold, humorous, macho-man concept and quirky memes and content. Malwang gained significant attention when he created a song about ‘Jangchung-dong King Jokbal Bossam,’ a dish he frequently enjoys, which led to him being selected as an actual jokbal advertisement model.

He has also gone viral with memes and catchphrases like ‘Magnaerik (Magnetic)’ and ‘I can’t resist this~,’ showcasing a macho image but with a unique, friendly vibe, candid speech, and sincere comments. These elements have steadily increased his fan base and subscriber count. Recently, he made headlines with a video from the Waterbomb festival, where he performed shirtless alongside Queen Wasabi, singing “Candy in My Ear.”

In the special edition of MAXIM featuring Malwang on the cover, the magazine offers a special treat for his fans: an exclusive large-scale poster featuring previously unreleased photos of Malwang on both sides, replacing the usual photos of female models. This exclusive content is only available in the MAXIM ‘Malwang Limited Edition’ and not in the regular or subscriber editions.

In an interview with MAXIM, Malwang described himself as “like a hidden gem restaurant in an alley.” He added, “Not everyone may like it, but once they do, they become deeply attached. I plan to continue creating content that my fans enjoy, so I hope they keep watching.”

Meanwhile, the August 2024 issue of MAXIM, featuring Malwang on the cover, has been released as the ‘Malwang Limited Edition.’
