NewJeans' Plagiarism Accusations Addressed By ADOR In Fiery Official Statement

ADOR has released a lengthy statement addressing the accusations of plagiarism against NewJeans. The agency has also shared specific legal measures and solutions.

On July 18, ADOR denied Wise Music Group’s plagiarism accusations against NewJeans’ “Bubble Gum.” The company’s stand was updated on July 23, when an official statement was uploaded on its official SNS.

According to the post, the agency expressed its gratitude to fans who have always supported NewJeans. ADOR shared that the fourth-gen leader has been busy this 2024, from their release of “Bubble Gum” on April 26 to their Japanese debut with “Supernatural.”

ADOR then said that NewJeans has been full of schedules across South Korea and Japan and brought up the quintet’s second debut anniversary. However, ADOR stated they shed light on the latest issues the group has been experiencing in traditional media and online.

ADOR also shared several facts regarding the accusations, including the complaint regarding the similarities between “Bubble Gum” and Shakatak’s “Easier Said Than Done.” ADOR also revealed that the agency had preemptively commissioned analysis from two foreign musicologists.

On June 17, ADOR received an email from Shakatak’s legal representative in Korea and responded to the message on June 21. ADOR replied that the company did not use the “Easier Said Than Done” composition and requested a “credible report proving any unauthorized use.”

The announcement divided K-Netz and international fans in a community forum.

  • “I knew that something was up when the plagiarism articles just randomly appeared out of nowhere as expected.”
  • “The hate was honestly no joke. Where did all the haters go now?”
  • “It was frustrating to see other groups’ plagiarism controversies get hushed up while NewJeans was targeted, but I’m glad Min Hee Jin is handling it well.”
  • “This latest activity was especially tough. ADOR and NewJeans did a great job. Seeing people constantly criticize and mock them was a mess.”
  • “Those who chant about karma and double standards seem to be projecting their wishes.”
  • “This statement sounds so pretentious lmao.”
  • “The statement is more about how it’s all HYBE’s fault (and how awesome MHJ is) instead of the plagiarism matter.”
  • “If they can’t talk about the plagiarism case (for investigation purposes maybe) then they can keep the statement short, no?”
