NewJeans Draws Mixed Reactions for Live Vocals Following MR-Removed Clip of 'Supernatural' 

Amid criticism of idols having poor live singing skills, NewJeans is also being mentioned after THIS MR-removed video.

Earlier on June 21, NewJeans made their much-awaited Japanese debut with its single, “Supernatural” and actively promoted it in both South Korea and Japan.

With this album, the quintet achieved a million-seller record for the fifth consecutive time after selling 1,021,730 album copies, as of July 11th based on Circle Chart.

As a part of their active promotions, the team then appeared on various domestic music shows, which became special as Hyein, a member who recently took a hiatus due to an injury, will finally join them.

On July 12, NewJeans showcased the complete stage of “Supernatural” and “Right Now” on KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank,” followed by their performances for MBC’s “Show! Music Core,” on July 13 and SBS’s “Inkigayo” on the 14th.

Despite this high interest in their live stage, the group failed to impress some music fans after watching their MR removed video for “Inkigayo.”

In particular, this kind of video minimizes the background music or instrumentals so that the live vocals can be heard clearly.  This is also a way for K-pop fans to know whether a group is only lip-syncing (using AR) or live singing.

In an online community then, NewJeans MR removed video became a hot topic when an online user questioned the group’s singing abilities after watching it. The OP wrote:
