INFINITE's Kim Sungkyu cast as the lead in musical 'Kinky Boots' for the third time
INFINITE’s leader, Kim Sungkyu, is to reprise his role as Charlie in the popular musical Kinky Boots in September and October this year. This marks the third time he has been cast for this role in 2017 and 2020, the previous two seasons receiving explosive response and praise. In 2020, Kinky Boots’ original Broadway producer and choreographer had posted Sungkyu’s picture on his twitter and instagram account. He had also followed Sungkyu on instagram.
Fans excited to see him as Charlie on stage again. Kinky Boots tells centres around Charlie Price, who, having inherited a shoe factory from his father, forms an unlikely partnership with drag queen Lola to produce a line of high-heeled boots to save the business.
Sungkyu is currently nominated for “Rookie of the Year Award” at the “18th Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF) Awards, which is the equivalent of Tony Awards in Korea, having proved himself amongst veteran musical actors.
