Cravity apologizes for security guard's assault on fan, implements new safety measures

The group CRAVITY has issued an apology regarding the controversy over their security guard allegedly assaulting a fan.

On the 22nd, their agency, Starship Entertainment, released an official statement saying, “We deeply apologize to those affected and to the fans for the inappropriate actions of the security guard who was performing artist security duties at the airport on June 23rd, following Cravity’s Japanese concert and promotions.”

They continued, “Upon recognizing the issue at that time, we immediately terminated our cooperation with the security company responsible for Cravity’s on-site security. Moving forward, we will establish security protocols and training procedures to prevent recurrence and ensure the safety of both fans and artists.”

Earlier, JTBC News reported that a teenage fan of Cravity, referred to as A, was assaulted by a private security guard at the airport and was diagnosed with a concussion.

A video shot by A captured the security guard saying, “Get out,” and “What are you doing?” while forcefully pushing the fan. The security guard also pushed other fans.

A stated, “At that moment, I was so scared that I fled home, but once I got home, the area where I was hit, my head, hurt…” A also disclosed a hospital diagnosis indicating a concussion.

A filed a complaint against the security guard for assault, and the Seoul Gangseo Police Station has begun securing airport CCTV footage. The security guard explained, “I only raised A’s hand upwards and had no intention of hitting her.”
