BOYNEXTDOOR to make a comeback in September

The group BOYNEXTDOOR is making a return.

According to an exclusive report by Sports Chosun, BOYNEXTDOOR will release a new album in September, marking their comeback to the music scene. They are currently in the final stages of their new album, focusing on achieving a high level of perfection.

This new release comes approximately five months after their last mini-album, “WHO?” which featured the title track “EARTH, WIND & FIRE.” Their upcoming activities starting in September indicate their intention to carry the momentum of their success in the first half of the year through to the end of the year.

The anticipation for BOYNEXTDOOR’s comeback is heightened by their reputation as a “5th generation talent.” Alongside groups like RIIZE, ZEROBASEONE, and TWS, BOYNEXTDOOR is leading the charge in the competitive 5th generation of K-pop.

Through their previous activities, they have showcased solid live performance skills and unique performances that have captured the attention of global K-pop fans. In their previous title track “EARTH, WIND & FIRE,” they impressed with their flawless live performance, even during the fast-paced “self-speed up” segment. Their witty ad-libs and stage presence are also noteworthy, setting them apart as a rookie group with exceptional stage manners.

With this new album, BOYNEXTDOOR is expected to demonstrate their outstanding musical abilities and captivating stage performances once again. Fans are also curious about the new styles and musical colors they will bring.

Given their record-breaking achievements with their last mini-album, this comeback is highly anticipated. “WHO?” was recently listed in Billboard’s “20 Best K-Pop Albums of 2024: Staff Picks” and ranked 93rd on the main album chart “Billboard 200,” climbing 69 spots from their previous release.

In terms of album sales, which are seen as a measure of fandom size, “WHO?” achieved significant success, surpassing 500,000 copies in the first week (a half-million seller). As of July 13, the album had sold a total of 764,601 copies, demonstrating their growing popularity.

Their successful debut in Japan is another reason for the excitement surrounding this comeback. Their first Japanese single, “AND,” topped the Oricon “Daily Single Ranking” (as of the 22nd) and entered Billboard Japan’s latest chart (July 8-14) with “One and Only (Japanese version)” ranking 4th on the “Hot 100.” This successful debut in Japan and their expanded fan base add to the anticipation.

Additionally, BOYNEXTDOOR is broadening their global fan base through various international stages. They recently appeared on a popular Japanese terrestrial music program and will perform at Mnet’s “KCON LA” in the United States on the 27th (local time). In August, they will take the stage at Japan’s largest music festival, “Summer Sonic 2024,” and continue their successful streak with a domestic comeback in September.
