BABYMONSTER Fansite Draws Backlash After Attacking Staff During Event in Thailand

A fansite has been exposed for attacking a staff member during BABYMONSTER’s event in Thailand.

On June 27, 2024, BABYMONSTER attended the Flex Talk program in Bangkok, Thailand. The event drew a large crowd of fans, eagerly gathering in the lobby area to catch a glimpse of themonster rookies girl group from YG Entertainment However, the excitement spiraled out of control when a between a fansite and staff resulted in a physical altercation.

During the event, a fan was reported for consistently standing during the event, obstructing the view for others seated behind. After a staff member from the Flex Talk show intervened with a reminder, the situation intensified as the angered fansite reacted aggressively and engaged in a physical fight with the staff in front of hundreds of fans. Security personnel quickly stepped in, removing the disruptive individual from the premises.

 Sadly, it appeared that two members of BABYMONSTER, Rami and Rora, were aware of the incident. Despite this, they remained composed and continued their live recording for the Flex Talk show. There is speculation that due to their focus on the recording, the two idols may not have fully witnessed the altercation.

Soon, the incident went viral on X (formerly Twitter), with BABYMONSTER fans quickly identifying who the fansite. On June 28, ZEUS, a fansite for Ruka, shared a statement to his X account. There, he apologized for his actions, stating that he did not know photography was not allowed for the event.

He also apologized to fellow fans of Ruka, and asked people to not spread any malicious comments about Ruka or other artists.

In another tweet, he expressed his hopes to personally apologize to the staff member he attacked. He also asked fans specifically from Southeast Asia for their forgiveness, and added that this must hurt Ruka as she is still young.

As of writing, BABYMONSTER’s agency, YG Entertainment, has not responded to the situation.

In other news, BABYMONSTER is scheduled to release the digital single “Forever” on July 1. The track will serve as a pre-release for their upcoming inaugural studio album. They are currently embarking on a fan meeting tour across Asia.
