BABYMONSTER Ahyeon Sparks Heated Debate After 'Lazy' Dancing Accusation

IA heated debate sparked among K-Netz and BAEMON fans in an online community after Ahyeon was judged as a “lazy” dancer.

Earlier on July 20, BABYMONSTER graced the Tencent Music Entertainment Awards (TMEA) stage. During their performance, they sang their famous song, “LIKE THAT,” flaunting oozing charisma and confidence while doing the choreography.

While the members didn’t disappoint in visuals, vocals, and dance skills, one member again became noticeable for her energy- and it was none other than Ahyeon.

Previously, she was heavily criticized for “overdancing,” which allegedly didn’t match the group. Netizens told her to tone it down because she was “overshadowing” the other members, even accusing her of trying to “steal the spotlight” from her groupmates.

Her standing out “too much” led her to receive malicious comments. When they started their activities to promote “FOREVER,” fans noticed that Ahyeon had been controlling her dance moves and trying to match them with other BAEMON members.

However, this change in her energy didn’t satisfy netizens as she was now being called out for “lazy” dancing.In the snippet from their stage, Ahyeon was seen barely doing the choreography, and her lackluster movements were also highlighted.

Without watching the full stage, some K-netz judged her immediately and wrote comments:

  • “Even if someone said negative comments & she’s upset, dancing like that is too much. I think you need to accept feedback and not take it too seriously.”
  • “Already? Has she become Jennie-fied?”

Some even accused her of intentionally doing it to gain sympathy from people.

  • “But she seems too smart… She used to have a lot of hate comments from fans because of over-dancing alone, and from the next stage onwards, she continued to dance like this with a sad expression. I wonder if she does that on purpose to get some sympathy.”

Amid these comments, supporters of Ahyeon and other internet users counterattacked haters and malicious commenters by showing the rest of the video, where the rookie was seen giving her best and dancing with her full energy.

In fact, she was also hyping the crowd a lot and among the members, Ahyeon was the one who got the loudest cheers & screams.

Ahyeon’s fans also called out haters for calling her a “lazy” dancer, when she was criticized a lot for being charismatic and energetic on stage since her debut. Fans implied that they were not giving positive criticism and just wanted to hate Ahyeon about anything.

  • “Just go and watch the full-stage video. The live performance was so good that I didn’t even see anything like that.”
  • “Isn’t that the only part that’s like that? I saw the shorts, and they sang the song without skipping a beat, and at other times, they danced diligently and properly.”
