Son Heung Min acquires ultra-luxury residence in Gangnam for 40 Billion KRW (29 million USD)

Son Heung Min, the captain of the South Korean national soccer team and a star player for Tottenham Hotspur F.C., has reportedly purchased a unit in the ultra-luxurious residential complex ‘Eterno Apgujeong’ located in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, for 40 Billion KRW (29 million USD).

According to industry sources on June 27, Son Heung Min acquired a unit in ‘Eterno Apgujeong,’ part of the Eterno Cheongdam Apartments.

Eterno Apgujeong is an ultra-high-end residence with prices starting at a minimum of 20 billion KRW (~14.4 million USD). The super penthouse, which spans three floors, costs 70 billion KRW (~50.5 million USD). It has not been confirmed whether Son Heung Min will personally reside in the unit. However, industry insiders speculate that his family is more likely to stay there, given Son Heung Min’s active career in England.

Currently, all penthouse types in Eterno Apgujeong have been sold out except for a few super penthouses and standard terrace mansions. While it is known that Son Heung Min has acquired one of the penthouses, the specific type has not been confirmed.

Eterno Apgujeong, located at the site of Hyosung Villa Complex B (82-7 Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul), consists of 29 units and is scheduled for completion in 2028. Hyundai Construction is responsible for the construction.

This project has garnered attention as it is the first design in Asia by the world-renowned Spanish architect Rafael Moneo. The site area is approximately 1.6 times larger than that of Eterno Cheongdam.

Eterno Cheongdam, the predecessor of Eterno Apgujeong, was also designed by Moneo. Located near Apgujeong Rodeo Station on the Suin-Bundang Line, all units in Eterno Cheongdam offer views of the Han River. The building comprises 29 units ranging from 244 to 497 square meters, spread across 4 basement levels to 20 above-ground floors, and was completely sold out in its first phase.

Eterno Cheongdam gained fame when singer IU purchased a 244 square meter unit for 13 billion KRW (9.5 million USD) entirely in cash. Additionally, a penthouse priced in the 30 billion KRW (~21.6 million USD) range was purchased in cash by Cho Young Shik, chairman of SD Biosensor, known for its COVID-19 diagnostic kits.

Nexplan stated, “We cannot confirm the contract details regarding Son Heung Min.”
