'It's So Awkward': Host Slammed For Gushing About Taylor Swift & More In ITZY's Radio Interview

ITZY appeared as a special guest at Z100 NY, where they discussed various topics about their time in New York, ongoing world tour, and many more.

As much as MIDZYs were hyped to know more about the girl group at the radio station, some netizens weren’t happy with a certain moment during the episode.

On the 13:26 mark, right after Yeji revealed their plans for a new album, the host acknowledged the hard work ITZY for their fans and admired them for taking one day at a time despite their busy schedules.

Afterwards, the host asked the ITZY members if they have some artists in mind whom they would like to collab with. This prompted group leader Yeji to mention singer-songwriter Taylor Swift.

Host: “You want to give your all to your fans every night so, if you’re also doing so many other things like hanging out with us or making sure that your mental and physical health is on, it’s too crazy. I’m really happy you’re taking time to take a day at a time.”

Host: “And when you decide to do music, you want to give your 100 percent to making that music. That’s beautiful, have you guys thought about who you’d want to collab with?”

Host: “I know you’ve done collabs before, but there are so many amazing artists that would love to work with you. A dream collab, maybe.”

Yeji: “For me, I really love Taylor Swift.”

Yeji’s response sparked enthusiasm from everyone in the room. However, fans and netizens weren’t happy with how the host followed up random mentions regarding Taylor Swift, alongside other public figures such as Prince William, Tom Cruise, and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend and football player Travis Kelce.

Host: “Oh my gosh, Taylor. Did you see her in London? She was with the Prince William and their kids this weekend, and the actor Tom Cruise, she was with Tom Cruise, yeah.”

Host: “Everybody showed up, it’s the ‘ERAS Tour’ and Travis, her boyfriend, right? She brought him on stage, you didn’t see that? You saw the videos? She brought her boyfriend on stage, Taylor brought her boyfriend Travis, the football player, she brought him as part of her act.”

Netizens expressed their annoyance and claimed the comments as irrelevant on the interview meant for ITZY. Some also pointed out how awkward it was for the members.
