Lay Zhang Draws Support For Shedding Light on Children Suffering in War-Torn Countries During Concert in China

Chinese soloist and EXO member Lay Zhang is drawing attention for shedding light on children suffering in Palestine, Ukraine, and Syria during a concert in China.

On June 14, 2024, Lay Zhang held a concert in Nanjing, China, for his “Grand Line 4 : STEP” world tour. During the concert, Lay performed his new song, “Human In You,” from his first English album, “STEP.” The song sings about world peace, love, and humanity.

While performing, screens above the idol displayed live footage of Lay. However, that’s not all. They also showcased photos of children around the world.

It was noted that among the photos, Lay featured a girl from Ukraine holding a signboard, two kids from Syria standing next to their destroyed home, and a baby from Palestine who was rescued by volunteers.

Lay is drawing praise for his actions. Since October 2023, nearly 40,000 Palestinians have lost their lives following Israel’s war on Gaza. The majority of the victims are women and children. Additionally, nearly 86,000 were injured amid the conflict, and countless Palestinians have been displaced from their homes.

Many Western celebrities have used the platform to make a difference and raise awareness. However, this has not been the same in Asia. Because of that, Lay’s actions are drawing massive praise from his international fan base, with people loving how he spoke out for children’s suffering.

Lay is not the only EXO member to stand with Palestine. Back in April, Suho joined UNICEF’s Gaza Stip Emergency Relief Campaign.

In April 2024, Lay Zhang finally returned to the South Korean music scene with the song “PSYCHIC.” For his activities in South Korea, Lay will work under n.CH Entertainment, which was founded by former SM Entertainment producer Jung Chang Wan.

Lay’s last release with EXO was “Don’t Fight The Feeling” in 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was unable to physically work on the album with the other members. He was also unable to film the music video with the members, and was edited in.
