"It's like I'm a new person!" BTS's V (Kim Taehyung) triumphs over his fear of heights and shares his top rank in the military in letter to fans

Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, touched hearts and brought joy with his heartfelt letter to fans.

On June 13, in celebration of BTS’s 11th anniversary, letters from the BTS members to their fans were revealed during the ‘2024 FESTA’ event.

In his handwritten letter, Taehyung expressed his satisfaction with his military life, shared the things he has learned, and reassured fans concerned about his well-being.

Taehyung proudly shared his newfound skills, saying, “I don’t mean to brag, but I even scored in the top ranking in some fields. Haha. I’m good at shooting, too! I’ve been getting a lot of praise, and I’ve learned a lot about Hapkido and Jiu-Jitsu from my courageous fellow soldiers. It’s like I’m a new person!”

He also conveyed his respect for his comrades and the personal growth he’s experiencing, saying, “I respect my comrades and their robust bodies. I’m thankful just to be able to train with them, and I’m working hard just to keep up! They really inspire me to work harder. I’ve gotten some bruises in the process, but I won’t push myself too hard! I just got a little too excited.”

As a member of the SDT, Taehyung has specialized training, such as descending from a helicopter through rappelling. He shared his efforts to overcome his fear of heights, which fans have seen on past BTS contents.

He revealed, “I overcame my fear of heights. Saying it was not a big deal would be a lie. It really was scary, but I overcame it. So, I am saying I am doing well so ARMY should be well too.”

Taehyung, who received a great response for posting a dance practice video with Bada Lee during his vacation last month, shared, “These days, during my free time, I go dance alone in a corner. My body itches to move. I’m dancing bit by bit, trying not to forget and to hold onto my identity.”

Taehyung is currently serving as part of the Special Forces, known as the “Special Duty Team (SDT),” in the Military Police Brigade under the 2nd Corps Command. Despite his service, he has been regularly updating fans whenever he can.

Recently, Taehyung went viral after photos of him wearing his all-black SDT uniform were shared by netizens while he was patrolling at the 2024 Veterans Culture Festival.
