In a show, Choi Yena talked about which IZ*ONE member changed the most as well as remained the same even after the group disbanded.

On June 12, Choi Yena appeared as one of the guests for MBC’s “Radio Star” where she told stories about her past group, IZ*ONE.

In particular, she talked about her close relationship with the members, even after separating and pursuing their respective careers.

When asked which member treated her “differently” after disbanding, she chose Kim Chaewon, but the reason is not what you think it is!

Here, she hinted at the better financial status of the idol after re-debuting in LE SSERAFIM, boasting how Chaewon would treat her with meal and dessert by herself now, contrary to the time when they used to split the bill.

Yena narrated:

“When I was still living with the other IZ*ONE members, my roommate was Chaewon. During our free time, we would spend a lot of time together, such as going to the café. At the time, I was one year older than Chaewon, so as her older sister, I would mainly buy the food and she would buy the dessert.”

She continued to explain how she changed, saying:

“But after Chaewon did well with LE SSERAFIM, she said she would buy the food. ‘Who earns more money, she’s the older sister.’ It made me happy. I was going to buy her dessert, but she also paid for it.”

As the broadcast continued, she also revealed the member whose personality remained even after re-debuting.

Yena selected IVE Jang Wonyoung and recalled:

“Wonyoung had positive and spiritual thoughts even back then.

In the past, there were 12 people, so there was a long waiting time at the shop (salon). We had to wait for 11 people to get it first, so we had a lot of time left.

One day, Wonyoung and I got there the fastest, and we talked about what to do. She said we should go to a café and eat bread. Since then, we have developed a culture of eating with the members who finish (to get their makeup) first.”

Meanwhile, Choi Yena originally made her name known as an IZ*ONE member launched in 2018. However, they disbanded in 2021 and since then pursued different career paths.

Chaewon, Sakura, Wonyoung and An Yujin, joined new girl groups, but Choi Yena decided to become a soloist and variety show entertainer.

In her 7th year as an idol, she talked about what changed over the years and she talked about the challenge culture that emerged with the popularity of short-form videos.

She said:

‘When I was promoting with IZ*ONE, there was no challenge culture. But now, there is a separate department in charge of challenges.”
