Taecyeon confirmed to star Japanese film 'Grand Maison Paris'

On June 18 KST, his agency 51K officially announced, “Taecyeon will be starring in the Japanese film ‘Grand Maison Paris.’ We ask for your interest and support.”

‘Grand Maison Paris’ is the film adaptation of the popular 2019 TBS drama ‘Grand Maison Tokyo.’ The movie reunites the original cast, including Takuya Kimura, Kyoka Suzuki, Ikki Sawamura, and Mitsuhiro Oikawa. The story follows genius chefs Natsuki Obana (played by Takuya Kimura) and Rinko Hayami (played by Kyoka Suzuki) as they open ‘Grand Maison Paris’ in France after earning three Michelin stars in Japan, and their challenge to become the first Asians to achieve three Michelin stars in Paris.

Taecyeon will portray Rick Yuan, a charismatic Korean-Canadian patissier who rivals Takuya Kimura’s character, Natsuki Obana. Rick Yuan is a talented patissier with his own shop and a passion for desserts. Taecyeon is set to deliver an impressive performance, showcasing his skills in Korean, Japanese, and French.

Taecyeon expressed his excitement, stating, “I was thrilled to work with the esteemed Takuya Kimura, and it was an honor to be part of such a great project. Traveling between Japan and Paris and working with an international crew was a stimulating experience that gave me the confidence to take on new challenges by immersing myself in the character.” He added, “I hope that, like Team Grand Maison’s struggle to earn three Michelin stars, viewers of this film will find the courage to pursue their dreams.”

‘Grand Maison Paris’ is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release in Japan this winter.
