Hyeri sheds tears during the press event for her latest film 'Victory'
On August 5, a press screening for the film ‘Victory’ (directed by Park Beom Soo) was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Attending the event were actress Hyeri, Park Se Wan, Lee Jung Ha, Jo A Ram, and director Park Beom Soo.
‘Victory’ tells the story of “Millennium Girls,” a cheerleading club full of passion but lacking experience, who cheer everyone on with exciting dances and songs.
In the film, Hyeri plays Pil Seon, an aspiring dancer. Pil Seon is a high school student who has dominated Geoje Island with her dancing and dreams of moving to Seoul to become a professional dancer. Her character is full of confidence and bold charm, driven by her passion for achieving her goals.
During the press conference, Hyeri unexpectedly teared up while listening to a journalist’s review and questions about ‘Victory.’ After a moment of silence, she explained, “It seems like you perfectly understood what we wanted to express,” revealing the reason for her tears.
Regarding her chemistry with Lee Jung Ha, she said, “When I saw Jung Ha, I thought, ‘Where did they find someone with such healthy energy?’ He was perfect for the character of Chi Hyung. His adorable traits amplified the character, and I am very grateful.”
Hyeri expressed her unique affection for the project, saying, “I never cried while reading this script alone, but during the full reading with all the actors embodying their characters, I was overwhelmed with emotions to the point that I could hardly continue.”

She added, “As we awaited the film’s release, we hoped to bring encouragement to the audience, making them feel like they were returning to that era. Hearing the journalist’s review that captured exactly what we aimed to convey made me so thankful that it brought me to tears.”
Speaking about her character, Hyeri remarked, “Seeing how emotional I get, this character is truly special to me. She was a challenging role. I admired her passion and innocence, and I hope the audience feels Pil Seon’s passion as well.”
‘Victory,’ a heartwarming and encouraging film for all ages, is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on August 14.
