G-Dragon Discusses Latest Endeavor As KAIST Professor In Magazine Interview: 'It Was A New Challenge'

The icon has shared insights on his newest experience as a visiting professor.

On June 17, ELLE Korea revealed that BIGBANG’s leader G-Dragon as the star of its upcoming July issue. The magazine also featured the star sporting the Chanel Métiers d’Art 2023 – 2024 collection, which flaunted the idol’s charisma and dazzling appearance.

Apart from the breathtaking pictorial, G-Dragon also took his time to answer several interview questions after the shoot had ended.

ELLE Korea then asked the star about his endeavor as a professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, or KAIST, where he was appointed to its Department of Mechanical Engineering.

G-Dragon then shared how the activity was indeed a new challenge for him. The idol also expressed awe of the students’ passion for their respective fields. The soloist also mentioned how their passion reminded him of his childhood. He replied:

“It was a new challenge for me, so when I visited the campus for the first time, I was both confused and excited. KAIST is full of people who are passionate in their fields.

I thought the immersion of the students would blur their studies and daily life, and I found it similar to my childhood self when I was thinking and exploring alone in the practice room.”

The idol was also asked about his interests, leading him to reveal that he was willing to explore multiple fields.

“I tend to be curious about various things rather than one specific field. As a creator and human being, I have the desire to challenge something a little bit unfamiliar.

If this work is not my area of expertise, I’m willing to borrow someone else’s expertise. That’s how we can deliver higher levels of results.”

G-Dragon was also interviewed regarding his partnership with Chanel and how he was able to maintain his relationship with the brand.

“I think it’s because I don’t see this relationship as work. I’ve been able to do this because I don’t view making music as a job, and my relationship with Chanel also persevered because it resembles a friendship. Sincerity always works.”
